HRCI Certification

Certification is an essential tool for maintaining high professional standards and shows that you have demonstrated mastery of the domestic or international HR body of knowledge and, through recertification, have accepted the challenge to stay informed of new developments in the HR field.  The PHR, SPHR and GPHR designations are also a visible reminder to peers and co-workers of your significant professional achievement. The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is the human resource credentialing body founded by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

RWHRMA promotes certification and recertification among its membership.  For individuals preparing to take the exam, the chapter offers certification study groups.  The chapter also awards 2 certification scholarships each year.

Why Recertify??
Recertification demonstrates your continued dedication to stay up to date with the rapidly changing HR profession. To retain the PHR, SPHR or GPHR designations, HRCI requires all certificants to recertify every three years either by accumulating 60 educational hours through continuing education, instruction, on-the-job experience, research and publishing, leadership activities, or membership in a national or international professional organization such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), or by retaking the examination (recertification by examination).  Raleigh-Wake offers many programs that are pre-approved for HRCI recertification credit or that can be applied towards recert. credit.  If you have questions about re-certifying, visit HRCI's homepage or contact our HRCI Certification Director.  Go to the quick links box on the top right side of this page to download a recertification handbook.
