RWHRMA is committed to working cooperatively with businesses, educators and community and governmental organizations to raise the level of awareness of workforce readiness issues and engage in activities that positively impact the current workforce, while ensuring that future employees possess the skills necessary to meet anticipated employer demands.  As HR professionals, it is important that we take a lead in creating these partnerships to prepare our citizens for entry or re-entry into the workforce.

What is Futures for Kids (F4K)?

RWHRMA supports F4K and asks that you and your companies join us in our support of this valuable organization.  This may be accomplished in a variety of ways:

Become a Career Coach!

F4K is an online career exploration tool that connects middle and high school students with Career Coaches.  Career Coaches are professionals who want to share knowledge about their career area with interested students. You can make a difference virtually anywhere at any time by logging into our system for just a few minutes once or twice a week to answer students' questions via a Career Discussion Board.

To sign up:

1. Go to the F4K web site at www.f4k.org.

2. Click on "Be a Career Coach"

3. Complete the online application

Select the Career Discussion Board(s) that best suit your area(s) of expertise*

We will run a criminal background check, as required by the Department of Public Instruction.

Once your application has been processed we will e-mail you to let you know that your account has been activated.

Post your company's career opportunities

Create a company page for students to see!

On your company page post as many career opportunities as you'd like. A career opportunity is one that may be available now (i.e. scholarship, job shadowing, apprenticeship) or in the future (with the appropriate training and education). We recommend you choose the 5-10 careers that will be of high need for you in the next 5-7 years. You can also send your company page information and career postings to Diane Blais at dianeb@f4k.org and we will post them for you. Call 919-875-8885 x208 with questions.

Appoint a company contact

A company contact is someone who can answer student’s career related questions via an F4K discussion board assigned to your company.  To get started have your company contact register with F4K by going to our web site at www.f4k.org.  Click on the “Partners” area.  Under “Ready to Join?” click “Go” and sign up as an employer.

Share F4K with industry professional organizations!

If you'd like someone from F4K to present to your HR team or your industry's professional organization, just let F4K know! Contact: Diane Blais @ 919-875-8885 x208 or dianeb@f4k.org.

If you are interested in getting involved or would like more information, you may also email RWHRMA's Workforce Readiness Director.
