 November Clothing Drive:

Raleigh-Wake Human Resources Association is participating in a community services project for Dress for Success in November.

Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help disadvantaged women find jobs and remain employed.  Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.

The drive in November will be to collect shoes, purses, accessories, jewelry, and women's suits and business attire (sizes 14 or larger).

So start looking through your closets to see what you can contribute in November.

    Getting Involved

Getting involved with Raleigh-Wake means you are joining a team of highly motivated HR professionals.  This networking will enhance your membership experience.  Professional & personal demands often place limitations on volunteer participation, so Raleigh-Wake has volunteer opportunities ranging from short-term commitments to positions with varying term or time commitments.

If you would like to learn more about volunteer opportunities and are available to assist, please contact the Volunteer Director, Michele Langley.

    VOLUNTEERING CAN PAY-OFF!

In addition to professional development and networking, volunteering for Raleigh-Wake sponsored activities allows current members to receive $1 credit for each hour of volunteerism toward your membership renewal dues for the following year. Maximum credit earned cannot exceed annual dues.

     How Does This Work?
Each time you volunteer for Raleigh-Wake, track your time using the Volunteer Tracking Form .  Time should be tracked on a per hour basis.  When you renew your membership in December select the renewal option that corresponds with the number of hours you volunteered.  Submit your renewal online and then email your completed Volunteer Tracking Form to the Membership Administrator.

     Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:

N.C. Center for Nonprofits  and RWHRMA partner!

Here’s a great opportunity to share your HR expertise with nonprofits that don’t have human resources professionals on staff.  The Human Resources Assistance Program is a partnership between Raleigh-Wake Human Resources Association and the N.C. Center for Nonprofits.  This new program works through the Center’s Board and Staff Helpline for nonprofits.  Center staff will screen human resources questions and, when appropriate, contact you to see if you can take a call from a Center Member.  If you agree, then Center staff will pass along your contact information to the caller.  Most of these questions will take only a few minutes and you’re not asked to spend more than an hour with the nonprofit caller.

Sign up on line at http://www.ncnonprofits.org/hrapinfoform.asp.  Questions?  Contact Adrienne Knowles at the Center (919) 790-1555, ext. 123 or aknowles@ncnonprofits.org).

    Speakers Bureau

Raleigh-Wake HRMA is in the process of developing a speaker's bureau for the business and HR community.  The speaker's bureau will be searchable by the general public.  Only RW members may add their names to the list.  For each topic a separate form must be entered to allow person's seeking a speaker to search by topic.   To volunteer, click here.    To view the current speaker's bureau, click here.
